Position : Head of Secondary
The British School Caracas was founded in 1950 and is the leading international school in Venezuela. We have slowly expanded over the years and, due to an increase in numbers, we are entering a new phase of development and so we are looking for an inspirational Head of Secondary to join the team. We have 200 students in the Primary Section and 150 students in the Secondary Section. Our curriculum follows the English National Curriculum in years 7-9, IGCSE in years 10-11 and the IB Diploma Programme in years 12-13.
If you can engage with the day-to-day operational and the technocratic demands of the role, while, simultaneously, having a clear eye on strategic direction and the future, we look forward to hearing from you! While being a relatively small school, our ambition in recent years is very much for us to be a pre-eminent academic school in the LATAM region and a recognised serious place of learning at a global level. We are committed to educating the whole child and are not simply a results factory (although these are excellent...but improvement is what we are about!) and we fully support creativity and innovation in the classroom. We have a very strong sense of community as a school and this has inspired tremendous loyalty in students, parents and staff alike.
Due to the promotion of the current postholder, we are looking for a Head of Secondary with a significant track record of school improvement and experience of the inspection schemes of OFSTED/BSO. A minimum of three years experience of successful leadership is required. For the right candidate, this is an opportunity that will afford the latitude for preparation for headship - certainly in the medium term. TBSC has an enviable reputation in terms of our work with the associations to which we belong, especially COBIS and LAHC where we visibly - and audibly - contribute to the 'conversation' about contemporary educational developments.
